Support for chipset of “AZW Z83 II INTEL MINI PC”, WIFI BT “AMPAK AP3264”?
I recently bought this nice little machine, that ships with WIN10:
Bqeel Z83 II Mini PC
I installed Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS, which was pretty easy but I noticed the following things:
- desktop freezes frequently, seems to happen mainly when using Firefox. After upgrading the installation yesterday looks like I got rid of this. Great 🙂
- No way to get WIFI and blutooth working, hardware not even listed by lspci. More details on this please see below.
- No sound over HDMI.I have no more information about this issue.
All of this I knew prior to buying, so basically that doesn’t bother me.
What I found from the BIOS is, that the OEM is a company named AZW. They list pretty much details about the hardware used: Z83-II-Intel-Mini-PC. From there one can find that the chip responsible for WIFI and BT is an AMAPK AP6234.
Is there a chance, that this chip will ever be supported by Ubuntu? How is the process of selecting devices, for which drivers will be developed? Can I apply somewhere for this?
I found a guy who develops code for this kind of things: Linuxium.
Unfortunately I am not able to make use of his information as it’s too complex for me.
Any hints, tips or explanations much appreciated?
