Hi there! I’ve installed Ubuntu (MATE) on a quite aged Olidata laptop and the fan stopped working. It stopped working on Windows too, where it used to run at full throttle all the time. Now I can’t use the laptop without it shutting off (at the moment I’m kinda cooling it down with an external fan, one designed for humans, it helps, but it doesn’t solve the problem).
I’d open the laptop to check whether the fan got clogged with dust, but the screws are too tight.
Is it possible that Ubuntu killed my fan? How can I check? How can I fix it?
